Dr. Rick Asai, DMD

Dr. Asai comes to our office with over 38 years of experience practicing general
dentistry after earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine from OHSU School of Dentistry. Over the
years he has been an educator at two community colleges teaching in dental hygiene and
dental assisting programs here in the Portland area. He has continued to broaden his dental
education through many seminars and study clubs over the years, including an emphasis in
restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Since retiring from full time practice, he enjoys helping out
where he can (like here) in addition to providing Pro Bono care on mobile dental vans and at
charitable clinics. Dr. Asai enjoys helping individuals achieve and maintain a healthy, beautiful
smile.
Dr. Asai has served in professional dental organizations at the local, state and national
level including terms as President of Washington County Dental Society and the Oregon Dental
Association. On the national level he has served on the boards of the American Dental
Association and the American College of Dentists.
Dr. Asai was born and raised in Albany, Oregon where he attended public schools. He
graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Pharmacy, and held a pharmacist
license before, during and for a time, after dental school. He met his wife Betsy in pharmacy
school. They have two children and two grandchildren. He and his wife enjoy hiking,
snowshoeing, cooking, traveling and dining out. As for cooking, he loves to bake bread and
pizza from scratch.
